The locations and the reasoning behind them:
First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh [directions] [web site]
Neither Audrey nor Chris is religious. So when we were looking for a place to hold our wedding, this was not the first place that came to mind. However, since Audrey's family is coming from France, we figured that it would be nice to hold our wedding in a place that had more character than a judge's chamber. So we decided to hold a small, private ceremony for close family at the First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh. This is a church that is accepting of all, regardless of religion, race, or sexuality, as we believe people should be.
NewsFlash!!
The Frick Environmental Center was destroyed by a fire. For more
information, see these stories: [The
Fire] [Rebuilding]
We found a new reception location, the Phipps Garden Center. Please
note that this reception will be very informal; neither the bride nor
groom will be in wedding attire. If weather permits, we plan to have
the possibility of playing frisbee or volleyball.
In addition, we are
compiling a wedding cookbook, so please bring your
favorite recipe to insert. See you soon!
Phipps Garden Center [directions] [web site]
The Phipps Garden Center is located in East Liberty, 10 blocks away from Chris's Pittsburgh home. It is an old carriage house situated in Mellon Park. This will be a nice indoor/outdoor location for a wedding reception!
Frick Environmental Center [web site]
The Frick Environmental Center is an educational facility situated a the south end of Frick Park, one of the large parks located within the city of Pittsburgh. Chris volunteered there during the summer of 2000, where he worked alongside the staff to maintain the gardens and the computers. They graciously accepted to have our wedding party in the center, and as part of the celebration we are planning to plant a garden to show our appreciation.
Radford Court Community Center [directions] [web site]
At the end of August 2002, Audrey and Chris are moving into the Radford Court apartment complex owned by the University of Washington. They have a nice community center that we can reserve; we will do so when we are permitted.
